Racooon Crazy

A few weeks ago we spotted a Racoon in our garage. It was eating the cat food. Later, it got in a fight with one of our cats. Then, a couple days before halloween we caught it eating the cat food again. Jim tried to shut the door, but of course the racoon ran out. He left it open a few inches and a little bit later checked the garage, and sure enough, the racoon was back. He got the door shut and trapped it inside. It was not quite 9:30, so he called up a neighbor, and we were able to borrow a trap. Jim baited it with tuna and set it in the garage. Not much later, the Racoon was trapped. Imagine how exited the kids were the next morning to peek at the Racoon. He was not very happy about the whole thing and growled at the kids anytime anyone went past him or got very close. Audrey and Kiersten were scared of it. Kiersten cried when I had to take her past the cage to get in the van to pick up the carpool. A lady from animal control stopped by in the morning, but the cage was too big for her truck, and probably too big for her to carry anyway. So we had to wait until a man came on his shift in the afternoon. The kids were glad to see that they did not miss any of the exitement of watching the racoon get taken away. The Animal control officer transfered the racoon to a smaller cage. The kids were exited to watch. They were sad when I informed them that the racoon would be put down. The officer explained that racoons are not indiginous to Utah and cause harm to the natural creatures of Utah. That made me feel a little less guilty.

Cornbelly's

This weekend is fall break. The kids all get a 5 day weekend. My mom and I took the kids up to Thanksgiving Point. Spencer and Amber came with us. It was a lot of fun and there was a lot to do. The older kids went off together and mom and I took the little kids to the activities. Here is Logan, Kiersten, Faith, Aaron and Audrey. The younger kids got their faces, or arm in Kierstens case, painted. Logan got a dragon. Kiersten got a flower, she loved being able to see it.

Audrey looks fancy!

Aaron also got a dragon.

Faith got a skull and crossbones. Her friend is into the skull and crossbones thing and has influenced Faith into liking that stuff too.

We went on a hayride. It was a fun time to cuddle with grandma.

Here is the cow train. It was fun and the line was not too long.

Faith and Kiersten rode together, Faith is such a good sister to watch out for Kiersten.

Aaron and Audrey got in together, just after this Aaron saw an empty car and jumped out to get to ride on his own.

We had a lot of fun sliding down slides and stayed until long after dark. The camera battery died and I did not get any other pictures. They had a princess corner and several costumes and wigs for the kids to dress up in. I wish I could have gotten a picture of Audrey in a princess costume, it was so cute!
